181-182 Townsville (25/9 - 26/9)

Townsville was an interesting one... I have to admit, didn't really click with me. I guess most of the time spent there was recovering...

Nain and Tadcu had descended down from the Tablelands where we found out they had been crook most of the time, as had Evie who had developed a cough.

Our time in Townsville basically spent walking on the Prom, walking the shops, playing in the impressive splash park and lazying around. Easily the most spectacular part of the town was the view from Castle Hill.

Townsville... yeah... um... go there if you like. But I'm not. I've got other places to head...

It had a pretty cool splash park I must admit.

Loch Ness?

Quite easily the best thing about Townsville is the Castle Hill Lookout. Thankfully we could drive up there (another tip of the hat to the road builders) because it'd be a right on slog to get up this high. It provides a brilliant spot to take in the expanse of the land. At times you are comfortably higher than the landing planes.

Probably the one thing we didn't do, but wish we had. Magnetic Island is literally a stones throw across the water. We talked about heading over but decided the logistics and people being a little crook meant it a bridge too far.

It was panoramic heaven...

With Nain and Tadcu around, often Mum gets relegated to the back seat!!

I did decide to take the long way home one day to have a bit of look at the segments of the V8 Supercar track so I can relate a bit more when I see it on the TV.

There's always time to sit in weird chairs with your Nain.

I'm sure in another light or visit, the place could be awesome. But on the back of where we've come from it just didn't stack up.
